Paul Galvin founded the company in 2007, along with professional engineer Steve Armstrong and maritime expert David Cross. Offering an exceptional product that exceeds many standard building code requirements, SG Blocks supports developers, architects, builders, and owners in achieving greener construction, faster execution, and stronger buildings at a higher value to clients. The firm has an exclusive 10-year collaboration and supply contract with ConGlobal Industries Inc., North America’s largest full-service supplier to the intermodal industry, accounting for 65 percent of domestic containers. SG Blocks has four product lines—retail, commercial, military and residential. Its clients include Lacoste, Puma, Mini, Starbucks, Equinox, The Howard Hughes Corporation’s South Street Seaport and four branches of the military.

In July 2014, SG Blocks hired Rubenstein PR to raise its profile as well as to drive awareness of modular, prefabricated and container-based construction.SG Blocks tasked RPR with showcasing how it is changing the way the world builds. RPR built its strategy on highlighting SG Blocks’ key differentiators, including the strength and versatility of its product, the extensive expertise of its management team, their strategic partnerships, and their high-profile clients.
