TIME WARNER CENTER

The Related Companies, which develops, manages and finances the world’s finest real estate developments, was tasked with creating New York’s Time Warner Center six years ago. This 2.8 million-square-foot mixed-use facility would be the new corporate headquarters of the media giant and home to high-end restaurants and retailers, luxury condominiums and Jazz at Lincoln Center. The Related Companies, in concert with its development partner, Apollo Real Estate Advisors, had ambitious media objectives for this unique property: to establish it as an international tourist destination and as a paradigm of 21st-century mixed-use development.

Through a unique multi-phased publicity campaign, RPR has contributed to Time Warner Center’s current status as a major New York cultural and tourist destination and as one of the world’s finest examples of mixed-use real estate development.

RPR began with a publicity strategy that captured media attention during every phase of the property’s development, including:
• Presentation of the design and financing
• Demolition of the old Coliseum on the site
• Groundbreaking ceremony
• Topping-out ceremony
• Grand-opening bash
• Official ribbon-cutting ceremony

The Grand Opening Gala was attended by more than 500 journalists from around the world and more than 5,000 influential individuals, celebrities and government officials. Subsequently, RPR kept the company in the media spotlight by announcing all significant real estate transactions, such as the sale of luxury condominiums and the signing of leases by upscale retailers and four-star restaurants.

Since becoming the agency of record in February 2000, Rubenstein Public Relations has secured hundreds of significant media placements for Time Warner Center, including feature stories in all the major New York newspapers; profiles in dozens of major-market large-circulation daily newspapers, including the Boston Globe, San Francisco Chronicle, the Times of London and Financial Times; and coverage in Town & Country, Gourmet, Architectural Digest and other prestigious national and regional glossy magazines.
